Sam McAuliffe composes and performs across a variety of disciplines, mostly on the guitar: free improvisation, sound art, jazz, folk/blues, and rock/noise. He studied music (specialising in jazz) at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and holds a bachelor of music with first class honours. He is currently working towards completing a masters research project. Sam has performed at national and international music festivals, worked as musical director for a variety of theatre projects, co-founded the Melbourne Improvisers Collective, and performs regularly throughout Australia as a bandleader and sideman.
